A Safe Space to Begin Again

A fortnightly peer-support group at Riverbank Retreat

Who is it for?

Solid Ground is open to anyone impacted by:

Addiction (your own or someone else’s)

Trauma or abuse

Family dysfunction

Generational patterns that still affect your life

You might not be ready for a formal recovery programme, or you may simply need a place to breathe, reflect, and feel less alone. Whether you speak or just sit quietly, this space is yours.

What to Expect?

This is a non-clinical, peer-led support group held in a quiet space. It’s confidential, trauma aware, and completely free of judgement.

You don’t have to share if you’re not ready. There’s no pressure, and no requirement to commit to anything more than what feels right for you.

Each session includes:

A short welcome and grounding

A reading or reflection to guide gentle discussion

An open sharing circle (optional)

Somatic release exercises (optional)

Time for tea, and informal chat

Why Solid Ground?

We created this space because we know what it’s like to carry stories no one else sees. Sometimes, just sitting beside someone who understands can be enough to begin the shift.

This isn’t a 12-step programme, but we are in contact with AA, NA, Al-Anon, and ACA. If you ever feel ready to explore a structured recovery path, we’ll have leaflets and information available for you to take home.

We also work alongside local organisations and council programs that offer training, volunteering and return to work opportunities for anyone ready to rebuild confidence or to take the next step forward.

If you'd like more information or support, just make yourself known to a senior member of the group, who will identify themselves at the start of every meeting.
